Speaking of homegrown talent, here is a multi-talented dude who's helping to put Vancouver on the urban music map. I've personally known of him for years, as he and my brother headed a songwriting collective a few years back. It's evident that Ebrahim has worked hard to hone his craft and the fruits of his labour are obvious considering the devout fanbase he possesses. After selling out all print copies of his 2007 album, Goldrush - which is the pretty much the best album you've probably never heard of - he has since appeared mainly on his YouTube channel, dazzling hundreds of thousands viewers with his inventive mashups.
I'm a little late getting at this hilarious rendition of "Smelly Cat" (yes, of Phoebe Buffay fame), but it's definitely worth the couple of minutes of your time. Man, what I would give to have a voice like that...
